We spent a wild and
wet day exploring the Royal Highland Show at the weekend. The show has now developed
into one of the largest food festivals in Scotland. Not only can you see the
award winning livestock and meet the farmers who grow our fabulous Scottish
produce. You can taste and enjoy some truly "farm to fork" food.
A must find for all
foodies are the Smokies that are cooked on site and are served still warm from
the smoker. The salty, juicy smoked haddock is so delicious no is accompaniment
needed.
I am always fascinated at the different kinds of chickens....
...and the eggs that they produce.
The cattle and sheep on show are a great reminder that we produce some of the best lamb and beef in the world. Grass fed and bred for flavour, not just for size.
Of course, a visit to
the highland show would not be complete with seeing a tractor!!
